Mission structure: - you can freely choose the map (island) you want to play. - more islands will be unlocked as the game progresses. - multiple missions take place on the same island. Usually covering different parts of the map. Though, the whole island is always accesible. - there will be night and day missions on every island. - you can freely choose between multiple start and exit points for each island whenever you start a mission. - there will be more variety in mission length. The game will have short missions (15-40 min) that take place on a small fraction of an island as well as long mission, with a scope like in desperados 3, that cover a whole island. - the island are as big and sometimes even bigger than the maps in desperados. - because of the new structure, the game will have many more missions overall, but the average playtime per mission will be shorter. Enemy types: There were 5 different enemy types shown so far with one having a variant with a giant bell on his back. How many there will be in the final game is not clear yet. 1. Acolyte - standard guard with a rifle. 2. Comissarius - a kind of officer (seems to work like the straw hats/ponchos). 3. Kindred (red robe) - they always appear at least in pairs and have a "mind connection" indicated by a jagged white line between them. If one get's killed the other one will get alarmed. On top of that they can revive their counterparts. Therefore they need to be taken out at the same time to avoid detection. 4. "High Priest" (white robe) - they will detect and freeze every character that comes close to them. Can only be killed when attacked by two characters simultaneously. 5. Marksman (white coat) - equipped with a crossbow and with a longer vision cone. Some of the acolytes are carrying a giant bell on their back. Once they see something suspicious, they start an animation to ring the bell, which raises the alaram (see section alarm) Viewcones: - viewcones of the enemies are shorter than in desperados 3. During daytime the viewcone will always be filled completly (no crouch area). Civilians: - civilians won't raise the alarm when they see a character, because they don't like the inquisition. Alarm: - raising the alarm will only alert the guards in the area. - only if a bell carrier rings the alarm bell he has on his back, it will spawn reinforcements from a guard house. Ringing the bell has an animation tied to it that will take a short time and might therefore still be stopped, if the player acts fast enough. Death: - the undead crew is way harder to get taken out for good as for example the characters in desperados 3. Crewmembers that get "killed", because their healtbar reaches zero, can be "revieved". This means if a character "dies" this is not instant game over anymore. - killed characters have a timeframe in which they need get "revived" by a teammate. If the timer runs out, the character can't be revived for the rest of the mission and needs to get carried to the exit at the end of the mission. After succesfully finishing the mission he can be brought back into his undead existence via the magic of the undead ship. - the timer gets shorter everytime a character gets "killed" until it is so short that the character can't get "revived" anymore in the mission. - If all characters die, it's game over Team size: - there will be 8 playable characters that you can unlock over the course of the game. You will start the game with Afia and get to choose a second a character out of two predefined ones. After that you can choose for you own, which character you want to unlock. - to unlock a character you need to get a black pearl. Black pearls can be collected as a reward for completing certain missions. - the standard number of characters you can take on mission will be 3. There will be however certain occasions where you can take more than 3 into a mission. But this only the case for certain story related events and not the norm. Character progression: - the will be no character progression. No skill trees or something alike. But there will be one upgrade for every character that you can unlock as the game progresses. What that means exactly is unlcear. A 5th skill maybe? Challenges, replayabilty, badges: - there will be a lot of badges and challanges in the game, but they will work differently than in desperados 3. - though, you can fulfill badges while on your first playthrough, you can't restart a mission right after you finshed it. Once you finished the storyline, the game will present you all the badges and challanges there are and allow you to revisited all the missions to work on them. - overall replayabilty should be quite high as you can approach missions with different characters and from different entry points Difficulty: - the overall difficulty is lower than in desperados 3 - at least on normal. - but there will many settings that allow to tweak the difficulty to your liking and make it as much as a challengeas desperado difficulty in desperados 3 - body lure was fixed
