The time when we will finish our high school life is just ahead. Among my various plans after the National Entrance Examination, to be a volunteer is what I am eager to do most. 
Finishing the exam is acknowledged as the end of one period in our life. Studying in the school for over 10 years leaves few chances for us to contribute to our community. Being a volunteer appears such a good way to do my best to help those in need. What’s more, through the work of a volunteer, a stage that allows me to have a close look at the world around is set up, which I believe will benefit me a lot. So to some extent, to be a volunteer can be considered as a lesson prepared fro my future life. 
I won’t be long before I can carry out the plan. What is for sure is that it will certainly become the highlight of my summer vacation. （162words）



The College Entrance Exam is just around the corner and after that, I can enjoy a long holiday during which I will be able to get down to the most meaningful thing I want to do----establishing a website. 
My website will aim at students of my age and here are several reasons why I am keen on doing it. To begin with, my website will be an excellent place for mutual communication among students. Being only children in families, students will be blessed to have sisters and brothers online. Besides, the website will enable to share information as well as second-hand products, which will reduce waste. Last but not the least, it will be a golden chance for me to improve my website designing skills. 
I am really looking forward to my summer holidays and I am sure my idea of establishing a website will prove rewarding and unforgettable. (156 words)

Different from the regular form of lessons, the group activities always appeal to students. One of the experiences of those activities in an English class is still fresh in my mind. 
My memory goes back to the time when we were still in senior one. During that activity, each group was asked to make a tourist guidebook of Shanghai written in English, with pictures illustrated. Within two days, the guidebook was completed thanks to every member’s hard work. 
The advantages of group activities over the traditional classes lies in the fact that they involve students’ participation. It is this kind participation that trains their ability to cooperate and create something new, which may bring lots of benefits to students’ future life. We are looking forward to teachers’ introducing more group activities into the classes in the near future.

Nowadays, An increasing number of people prefer to communicate with others by telephone, while, still, there are a few people who stick to the traditional ways, for they believe letters help to express their feelings better. 
As for me, I show more preference for telephone because telephone has a lot of advantages over other forms of communication. 
To begin with, as a product of modern technology, telephone boasts its swiftness and convenience. It enabled me to keep in touch with others at any time and in any place, which provides me with timely information and essential assistance. 
What’s more, compared with letters, telephone conveys true sound of others to us, greatly contributing to a natural expression. When I talk with someone on the phone, hearing his sound, I always feel as if we were having a face-to-face talk. 
As has been illustrated above, I am in favor of communicating by telephone.

 As is universally believed, saying such words as “Thank you”, “I’m sorry ” or smiling when meeting others is considered good manners. Your politeness not only shows respect for others, but delighted yourselves as well. This is vividly illustrated by one of my experiences. 
 It was a hot summer afternoon when I was taking a bus to school. A sudden brake plunged everyone forward, and I, accidentally, stepped on the foot of a middle-aged woman next to me. She appeared angry at first. But after I sincerely apologized to her, saying “I am so sorry”, she softened a little bit, and gave me a smile in return. It must have been my politeness that conveyed my respect to her, and then, her kindness sent a warm current to my heart. 
 You see, politeness is just doing magic in turning conflicts into harmony. What we can hope for is that our life will be more wonderful if everyone place adequate emphasis on politeness.

Considering the importance of the coming college entrance examination, students are now sparing no effort to prepare for it. We even see some students rush to temples to pray for their success, which I think is absolutely ridiculous. 
From my perspective, the key to success lies only in one’s continuous efforts. As the saying goes, God helps those who help themselves. Therefore, it is never sensible for us to count on Buddha to bring us good exam results and praying only serves as a way to express good wishes. Moreover, what is hidden behind the picture is the students’ lack of confidence. They are letting someone else decide their own fate, rather than themselves, which no wise people will ever do. 
Hopefully, these students will stop praying and get down to real work. It is wise for everyone to practice more and build up their confidence. Remember, you are the one who controls your fate. (156 words)

卢湾区作文――英语和计算机学习

In an effort to tailor students for the future job market, schools have laid much emphasis on the teaching of computer and English. It seems that students hold different attitudes towards learning the two skills though they all recognize the necessity of learning both the two subjects. 
I enjoy both English and computer learning and do pretty well on exams. According to my experience, it is necessary to cultivate students’ interest who are addicted to computer too much and don’t perform well in studying English. First, you are well advised to have a go at the English corner or films, which enables you to appreciate the practical use and joy of English. And then, you can set a practical goal in learning and cheer for any success. This may be a good way to build up your confidence and, at the same time, motivate your learning. 
Since English and computer are both essential to us, we should neglect neither of the two subjects. Only in this way can we lay a solid foundation and prepare us for our future life.
