Story from the original owner:
These tapes came from a record label, they were sent unsolicited when I worked for A&M Records, you do not ever get demo tapes of this standard and I still remember putting on the tape and hearing the beautiful voice of Dolores. I was straight on the phone and arranged a meeting with the band at Xeric studios as was obviously keen for A&M to sign the band. After the meeting I came back and spoke to the band's lawyer John Kennedy (now CEO of Universal UK) to find out what sort of deal the band were looking for. At this stage the other interested record Labels were US label Imago (now defunct and home to Aimee Mann & Henry Rollins) and Island, from there you probably now the rest, Island Records then US A&R guru Denny Cordell made the band a priority and helped the band break the US market where the band took off before conquering the UK.

note: First commercial release on Xeric Records. Note that this recording of the song "Nothing Left At All" is the same one that appears on "Uncertain." Xeric made 300 copies of this tape, all of which sold out in local record shops within days.

The serial number "XER 016T" is hand-etched into the vinyl near the inner label, followed by "A1" or "B1" to denote the side. Since the labels were hand-written, it varies whether the pressings carry the full tracklist on each side (as in the first set), or just labeled with the title and "A" and "B" side (second set).
