Julien Gelas is well-known for his unique melodies as he combines different genres to his music. Critics and fans alike would often compare his performances to an energetic and poetic music wonderland. Gelas is from a family of artists and started learning music at age 5. He started studying classical music at age 11 and since then, he had worked on plays, television shows and films as a drama director. He even wrote music for the singers in “The Voice”.
As a director he directed many plays, like “A street car named desire”, “La Fuite” from the Nobel price of litterature Gao Xingjian, or “Un cadeau ors du temps” which participated to Avignon festival . He also wrote his own play like “Station Liberté” which participated to the Beijing Fringe festival and Hangzhou theatre festival. He wrote novel “La promesse du retour”, and an essay about China “Enter in the contemporary China”.
