Hi! My name's Alex, and if you're reading this right now, then I want you to know that I think you're awesome! I am so incredibly excited that I might actually get the opportunity to record and release my first CD. I'm even more excited that we all get to do it as a team!
What do I hope to do?
I would love to be able to record a 4-6 song album (a.k.a. an Extended Play "EP"). This EP will include songs that I ha圞ve either written by myself, or co-written with other writers. Once I am done recording the EP, it will be released on iTunes, and I will also ha圞ve physical copies for sale. It should be released early Spring of this year. I hope that with this EP, I will gain lots of amazing fans (like you!) and be able to get some label interest.
How I plan to do it...
1. Pick the 4-6 songs that represent me best as an artist. I ha圞ve about 60 songs to choose from, but don't worry, I've already started narrowing it down. ; ) 2. Get together multiple times with my band and producer with the final songs, before the serious recording process, and do some rough "sketches"/recordings of what each song will sound like (instrumental parts, big or SΜall production, etc.). 3. Begin the recording process! Yay! We will probably start out with a day of just drums for all of the songs, and then move on to all the other instruments from there, sa圞ving vocals for last. 4. Do a fun photo shoot and then ha圞ve one of my super talented graphic designer friends put together my first CD cover! AHH! So exciting! 5. Get the final tracks mixed and mastered. 6. Ha圞ve the EP printed and submit it to iTunes and then do a huge release!
What is the money specifically for?
There are so many costs that go into recording an album. In fact, a lot of major labels spend tens of thousands of dollars, if not more, on their artists' CD's. Here are some of the costs that your money will help cover: -Production -Recording engineer -Studio space -Musicians -Mixìng -Mastering -Album art圞work -CD replication, packaging and shipping
How does this Kickstarter thing work?
Over to the right side of this page, you can see a list of different prizes, for different amounts of pledges. Once you decide on which pledge amount you would like to give, you click on the green button in the upper right-hand corner that says, "Back this Project," and it will walk you through the steps.
Remember that this is an ALL or NOTHING fundraiser. So, if I am just one dollar short of $9,000 on the deadline, then your pledge doesn't go through and you get all your money back, and I don't get to finish my project and share my songs with you guys... AND you won't get any of the cool rewards I've worked so hard on for all of you. Although the final amount can't be under the goal amount by the deadline, it can definitely go over. So, if you all give above and beyond, all the extra money will still go into the EP.
I really hope that you'll become a part of this project. I feel incredibly honored to even ha圞ve such a great opportunity to work with people willing to support my music. YOU are what makes all this happen! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
