TEACH IN SHENZHEN, CHINA
**Top Chinese school offers good pay and free housing**
Bordering Hong Kong, Shenzhen is a city of 7 million, and boasts the largest middle-class in China. Located on a beautiful modern campus in the heart of the city Shenzhen High School (shenzhong.net) is south China’s best public school, with 2,400 students in three grades.
Our principal Mr. Wang Zheng, an active proponent of education reform, encourages our top students to apply to American universities. Last year 48 of our students were admitted to American universities, including Princeton, Columbia, and Brown. This year 78 are applying, and our students have already been admitted early to Columbia, Cornell, Brown, and Duke.
To help our grade twelve students transition into American universities we will experiment with a special curriculum beginning September 2009, and we are looking to hire 3-4 American university graduates to teach this curriculum.
Designed to be a microcosm of an American university experience this special curriculum is composed of reading seminars and extra-curricular activities.
In daily college-like reading seminars you will teach 10-12 grade twelve students who are strong avid readers. You may also opt to teach drama, journalism, or outdoor education. You will be expected to teach 20 contact hours a week.
You have the option of either a 12-month or 24-month contract. We pay 20,000 yuan (about $3,000) a month, minus 3,200 yuan for taxes. We will also provide you with one round-trip ticket, a work visa, health insurance, and a one-month China tour in January. Each teacher will have his/her own fully-furnished apartment with Internet access.
If you are interested in applying please forward a cover letter and resume to our Director of Special Curriculum Mr. Jiang Xueqin (a Canadian citizen and Yale graduate). We will conduct phone interviews starting February 10th 2009.
