Personally,我认为有很多地方翻的有失偏颇，比如（2）中的"peoples"肯定不能翻成“人”，而应该是“国家或民族”，因此整句话就理解错了！还有就是（4）也理解错了，特别是off-hand 和 shot 的意思，因该是 立即 和 枪决。整体来只有几句理解对了。以上纯属本人之意见，不带任何感情色彩！

这次登陆本来极其危险而且本有可能以悲惨的结局结束。但是德国方面的一系列错误和霉运却使罗斯福在这次出色的冒险的科技性的军事行动中取得成功。而且由海员操作的大型航空母舰也取得了登陆成功。马歇尔将军培养、训练涌向诺曼底的陆军展示出他就像一个美国的救世主。美国步兵虽然要求了过于奢侈的后援，但他们的确在法国打了漂亮的一仗。马歇尔真是初生牛犊不怕虎。但本质上诺曼底登陆这件事表明了弗兰克林· 罗斯福打败了阿道夫·希特勒，就好比是惠灵顿在滑铁卢战役中打败了拿破仑。在诺曼底这两人最终遭遇了正面的军事冲突。希特勒的失误使罗斯福取得胜利，就好象在滑铁卢那场战役中，不是惠灵顿更容易赢，而是拿破仑更容易犯错误。

Comments:或许对于我们大多数人来说，我们只是普通人，只是路旁那无人关注的野金银花，而并非伊甸园里面那骄人的花朵。但是这并不意味着我们可以放弃我们的生活，任它随波逐流。相反，我们同样可以有自己的发芽、绽放和枯萎。命运选择了我们有不同的起点，是让我们能更加知道社会的多样性；但命运同样让我们和伊甸园里面的花一样，走向同一个目的地，是让我们觉得生命其实是公平的，因为到最后大家的结果是一样的。我们每个人都有属于自己的一条路，就像隐藏在我们身体里的DNA分子一样，所以没有必要去羡慕和嫉妒他人的生活，尽情享受生活的宁静和乐趣，去寻找那座属于你自己的Celestial Mountain吧！

The Indian Burying Ground, writen by Philip Freneau, is considered as a 
nature lyric. In this poem, Freneau presented a real appearence of the Indian 
burying ground and people’s activities around it. Quite different from other 
ornate style, a natural, simple, and concrete diction best illustrated in 
this poem. It rhyems in abab, which makes it more rhythmic and attractive.
It also attracts me and gives me a deep impression that the Indian burying 
ground used to be very important in history, was a place that related body 
and soul. was a place witnessing the history, was sacrosanctity, and was a 
numen. 
 Like other people around the world, I want a permanent life; however, it’
s important. I used to think after my death, how people will deal with my 
corpse. Will they just throw it away? Will they leave it for animals? Or will 
they bury me in a good place? I have know idea and still think, but now I 
think if someone can help me and bury my dead like the North American Indian 
did before, I will considered it as my soul’s eternal sleep, just like the 
poem said “the posture, that we give the dead, points out the soul’s 
eternal sleep.”
 Death is not the end. I am agree that it “can only mean that life is 
spent, and not the old ideas gone”. Each person’s existence will have 
different evidences to prove it, whether this or that. Once appeared in the 
earth, people’s thinking, activities or even words were existed. They won’t 
disappear forever.

Philip Freneau was known as "the poet of the American Revolution" because of the many ballads and satires he wrote during this period. His verse, prose and partisan essays appeared in numerous periodicals, and several volumes of his works were published over a half-century. All the while...in romanticizing the wonders of nature in his writings...he searched for an American idiom in verse. 

After visiting an Indian burial ground, Freneau wrote the following poem, considered to be one of the first to idealize the Indian. "The Indian Burying Ground" was first published in the American Museum, November, 1787.

The Indian Burying Ground

This poem was published in the poet’s Miscellaneous Works in 1788. Like “The Wild Honey Suckle”, it anticipated romantic primitivism and the celebration of the “noble savage”. The poem portrays sympathetically the spirit of the nomadic Indian hunters, who were traditionally buried in a sitting position and with images of the objects they knew in life. It is believed to be the earliest to romanticize the Indian as a child of nature. he poem was written in ten iambic tetrameter quatrains with the rhyme scheme of abab.

The Meaning of Death in "The Indian Burying Ground"

Summary: Analysis of the poem "The Indian Burying Ground" by Philip Freneau. The poem describes the spirituality of Indians surrounding death, which is seen as a happy occasion, unlike Western white culture.

The poem is about an Indian culture, especially and Indian funeral. It describes death in this tradition, which is looked at as rude and savage. Still, the speaker reveals a lot about its strength and beauty as the poem goes on. It is a message inviting people to understand this culture as it is without prejudices. 

Unlike the white man's tradition, in the Indian's, the dead Indian is dressed in special clothes as though celebrating a happy event. Death in the Indian tradition has a different meaning. It is no longer that sad and dreadful event that everyone is afraid of. The dead person becomes a warrior who protects the land. This explains his posture and the way he is dressed in. The conception of death in this culture makes of it a different one from the white man's. 

This difference makes the strangers reflect on this tradition, which they consider unacceptable and savage as the speaker says: 

"On which the curious eye may trace 

The fancies of a ruder race." 

This gap between is but the outcome of a misunderstanding of the Indian's customs. Still, it is a deep-rooted one which has resisted change. 

It is deep rooted and old, and believes in the existence of specters. It gives greatest value to the soul and considers it as the perfect and purest element in humans that live s eternally. The Indian culture is a strong one that has a strong belief in its principles that no reason can solve its mystery. By resorting to reason, one is to misunderstand and misjudge this beautiful culture that deserves more care and attention. 

The poem is a beautiful piece of literature. It reveals a lot about the Indian traditions and culture, which is not given its rights, in well rhythmic verses of poetry.
