哈哈,这个题目不是我编的,我在Project Trinity找到的一篇关于Kosmology的文章.AQAL是Ken Wilber的一个著名理论,我以前也提到过这个理论,我说这是心理学的理论.事实上,这个理论和"20原则"一样是全面的理论,统一的理论,只是因为Ken的心理学成就过高而让AQAL只在心理学领域上被人熟知.
最近看Ken的著作时,我发现我们在存在主义,虚无主义什么的理论中度过了太长的时间,一直忽略Kosmology这一新兴学科.导演Larry Wachowski作为Integral Institute的"特殊嘉宾",<黑客帝国>和Ken的新理论绝对不会只有一点微不足道的关系.
现在我就给大家带来一篇<AQAL的矩阵革命>.

The foundation of the Integral theory is a map known as the Four Quadrants (4Q)[1]. The 4Q is a conceptual representation of the fundamental dimensions of “holons[2].” Holon is a term coined by a Hungarian philosopher named Arthur Koestler. It is a combination of the Greek word “holos,” meaning whole, and the suffix “on” meaning particle or part—or simply, a holon is a whole, which is part of another whole. Koestler used this term to describe a basic unit of organization in biological and social systems. In Integral theory, holons and holarchy (hierarchy of holons) are used as conceptual representations of “reality”—Kosmos (the physical Cosmos + interiors). The term “transcend and include” is often used to describe the relationships of holons to its junior holons—atoms are transcended and included by molecules; molecules are transcended and included by cells; cells are transcended and included by organs; organs are transcended and included by humans; humans are transcended by the biosphere; to infinity and beyond—all the way up, all the way down. Below is a hyper-diagram (hyperlinked/dynamic diagram) of the 4Q.

The 4Q can also be viewed as perspectives[3] of a holon. In Integral theory, “perspectives” are the basic building blocks of the Kosmos . The Upper Left (UL), and Lower Left (LL) represent the interiors or subjective dimensions of a holon: UL is the individual subjective (e.g. First-person: I); LL is the collective subjective (e.g. First-person: We, Second-person: You). The Upper Right (UR) and Lower Right (LR) represent the exteriors or objective dimensions of a holon: UR is the individual objective (e.g. Third-person: It); LR is the collective objective (e.g. Third-person: Its). The Upper Quadrants (UL and UR) represent the singular/individual perspectives of a holon. The Lower Quadrants (LL and LR) represent the plural/collective perspectives of holons. A fundamental concept of the 4Q is that, a holon “cannot” and “should not” be reduced to any one of the four quadrants with the exclusion of the others. Doing so would result in a non-integral view of reality. For example, “flatland”[4] results when the Left Quadrants (UL, LL) are ignored in favor of the Right Quadrants (UR, LR); or “wonderland”[5] when the Right Quadrants (UR, LR) are ignored in favor of the Left Quadrants (UL, LL)—in short, less wholeness, more fuck-ups[6].

Integral theory also compacts the 4Q into Big Threes[7]: Arts (UL), Morals (LL), Science (UR, LR); the True (UR, LR), the Good (LL), the Beautiful (UL); Self (UL), Culture (LL), Nature (UR, LR). However, for the purpose of this discussion, we’ll settle for the level of abstraction provided by the 4Q, thank you.

One of the main tenets[8] of Integral theory is that holons have four fundamental capacities, or drives: self-preservation (agency), self-adaptation (communion), self-transcendence, and self-dissolution. These drives (or forces, or “tendencies of evolution”) are what cause the Kosmos to manifest or tetra-evolve[9]—simultaneous arising and evolution in the 4Q. And so, a more detailed version of 4Q came into play. “Levels” (or stages, or waves, or structures) of development, “lines” (intelligences such as: moral, cognitive, kinesthetic, psychosexual, spiritual, etc.) of development, “states” (altered states, brainwave states), “types” (such as: male, female) were added to the 4Q, thus giving birth to a more detailed map known as AQAL—all quadrants, all levels (or waves, or stages), all lines (or streams), all states, all types.

The Integral theory is so complex yet so elegant it could be applied to, literally, “everything” (business, medicine, law, politics, ecology, art, etc.)— “Theory of Everything” is not just a pretty name.

4.Ken Wilber uses the term “flatland” to describe what happens when one or more of the quadrants is ignored or undervalued. But most of the time, this term is used to describe how hard Sciences ignore the interior domains such as: values, feelings, intuition, transpersonal experiences, just to name a few.

5.I decided to get involved with name-calling and insensitive labeling so I used the term “wonderland” in describing what happens when the Right Quadrants (exterior dimensions) are ignored and undervalued in favor of the Left Quadrants (interior dimensions). Just like Alice, people who take the interiors too seriously end up in a nightmare and get trapped in the other side of the Looking Glass.

6.“The higher that we climb, the more the ladder sways, yeah!” – “Less wholeness, more fuck-ups”, is only half of the story. Actually, the more complex the holon, the greater the “possibility” of fuck-ups, specific to that holon. For example, the cellular level might be more complex or more whole than the atom level. But atoms don’t get sick the way cells do. So why continue to grow when there are more probable fuck-ups along the way? Well, things change, including us. And the more we change the more we grow (even if it takes thousands of years). The more we grow the more chances of fuck-ups. So the more important it is for us to be aware of those potential fuck-ups (both up and down the previous waves of development) so we could avoid and/or fix them for our own sake and happiness. In short, the higher the stage of development, the more crucial “wholeness” is necessary. Word to your mother.

7.See A Brief History of Everything by Ken Wilber (page 110), or checkout Kosmic Consciousness (CD) - Ken Wilber’s First In-Depth Audio Learning Course! - Disc 1 - The Integral Approach: the Big Three, the Quadrants, and the Lines of Development. The jargon “the Big Three” is different from the jargon “Trinity” as used in this essay. “Trinity” is a shorthand I used for “I-I, SDi, and Neurotechnology” combined. This term was actually based on the hot-leather-tight-ass-kicking-beauty Matrix character named Trinity, which, come to think of it, can also be described as the True (she knows Kung Fu, and other lots of cool stuff), the Good (wants to save the human race), and the Beautiful (she’s hot. period.). Then Trinity is indeed the Big Three. Damnit!
