BBC world news, I am M.J.
President Bush says Iran's initial response to international
proposals on the future of its nuclear program appear to be a
positive step.Iran said the plans presented in Tehran on
Tuseday represented the framework of the negotiation.Iran's
chief negotiator A* said they contained positive developments, but added also some ambiguities leaving resolving. From
Washington,J.B. reports.
Rarely has the exchange of words between Washington and Tehran
sounded so encouraging.First Iran describe the package of
incentive to persuade it suspend nuclear enrichment program as
positive. Then, President Bush used the same word to describe
Tehran's issue guarded response. The European intermediary Harria
Solana also delivered a message following his talks in Tehran
On his return, he told the US secretary of state Condoleezza
Rice that he found these discussions very useful and
constructive. But there were still signs of caution and mutual
suspition could easily resurface. The US says diplomacy is now
at a sensitive stage and they want to give Iran space to
consider both the incentives and potential penalties. But at
recent, American officials are refusing to reveal the details
of package of proposals they offered to Iran.
